Poornam employs tools on 3 levels in the project lifecycle.

• Tools for design
• Tools for development
• Tools for testing

There is a good reason why we use tools at all these levels, though it is perfectly possible for most companies to develop without tools. Tools make it easier for programmers, designers and testers to concentrate on building your product without wasting time in the technicalities of building your product.

For example, each page in our dynamic web applications is automatically performance and load tested using Apache Benchmark software. Our testing scripts parse through and test each page with a variety of inputs(called testcases), resulting in a Load testing and performance Report(see example). This enables the tester to spend more time evaluating and analyzing the test results generated from the tool, than with the actual process of testing. And each tool we use is chosen with great care, either from 3rdparty vendors (eg. Zend) or developed in-house. We require our in-house scripts to have the same exacting standards as our software. This is important, since we don't want to risk the project failing because of Tool failure.
